Ginger another good one. It takes me several readings to get the whole picture .

I'll read it again in the morning before I comment.

In describing DJT, oppositional defiant disorder is probably more accurate vs. narcissist

I think Trump is a sadistic psychopathic narcissist. Oppositional defiant disorder squares more with the psychopathy part of his personality disorder(s).

He has a Freudian " ego". Frankly, that disqualifies him as a narcissist. Egomaniac, yes... pathological narcissist, nope.

What makes you think he has an ego? I thought you were a student of/followed Sam Vaknin who says unequivocally that Trump is a narcissist.

Sam has let his political biases cloud his professional judgement. Remember Sam is a Narcissist, and hence, has no true ego of his own. He is not infallible.

DJT presents with a true Freudian ego in my opinion, not a false one, because he does have a very firm grasp on reality in many, many situations. His lack of understanding in other areas stems from a lack of political experience, but that is a whole different analysis for a different day.

A narcissist has no true Freudian ego, they have a false, invented ego that they use to attempt to balance their ID with their cruel and unrelenting Super-Ego. Because they have no ego, only a false one, they are delusional, as the ego's function is to ground the individual in reality, balancing the super-ego with their id. Their false ego essentially allows them to interact the interjects of their "version" of the outside world, and their view of the "world" is therefore delusional.

In my opinion, for what it's worth, DJT is not delusional. Oppositional, and defiant, yes. He actually fits the diagnostic criteria for ODD almost perfectly.

@gingercoy I would agree with @Publius here on Trump, who I see as an outsider contrarian, with a strong political compass that lines up more with individual freedom than the pathological narcisisst. I can use an example that you wrote about, "Trump claims that he (and his administration) will avenge his political adversaries should he win next year’s election." I saw this moment as him poking the bear, being a contrarian. Here he is telling his adversaries I know exactly what you are doing to me. it wasn't a threat, but more someone saying I don't care how much you come after me, I will win this for the people. You see him as exerting narcissistic power. But if this were true, why didn't he "Lock Her Up?" He threatened as much the last time he ran, however once in office he was more concerned with the job at hand enacting the policies that he promised the american people.

Hi Michelle! Trump has a largely chaotic personality structure and as such lacks follow through and know-how on how to successfully lock up Hillary Clinton, plus he had not accrued enough power to do so. I fear that with a second administration he will become a full throated dictator who would have such power and arbitrarily lock up anyone he considers an enemy which would be a great number of people.

The fear that DJT would become a "dictator" is an unfounded fear. It could never happen. Frankly, if he would be elected again, it would be impossible for him to obtain the power to do so, due to progressive ideological bureaucratic capture.

Trump is the laser pointer, the progressives are the cat chasing the red dot.

He stokes their trump derangement syndrome for entertainment and to mock them, illustrating, to many, their lack of a grasp on reality.

He would never be able to lock anyone up. Although there are quite a few that should probably be in jail.

His chaotic personality structure is most likely due to ADHD.

Michelle: "lines up more with individual freedom than the pathological narcisisst" should be the quote of the day.

You have hit the nail on the head as the "pathological narcissist" craves an authoritarian regime, that they can be a part of to elevate their "status". The narcissists cannot stand "individual freedom" as the individual, in their warped mind, must not be allowed to act in a manner contrary to the narcissists' wishes.
